In 2025, through Sportz Village’s Pitch4Play initiative, over 300 children from schools across India identified the barriers to play and proposed practical solutions. The result: The Get Kids To Play Handbook – a guide for parents, schools and communities. A rare policy document where those most affected are also the loudest voices.

Gathering insights from 1,41,840 children across 333 schools, the report showcases critical trends in student fitness, post-COVID recovery patterns, and the decisive role of structured P.E.

The Sport for Change Roundtable series has been shaped as a journey – each conversation building on the last. Delhi opened the dialogue by locating sport firmly within the CSR policy landscape. Bengaluru, the second in the series, shifted the focus to what comes next: turning policy into action.

As a successor to the book – ‘Get Kids to Play’ – authored by Saumil Majmudar and Vijay Krishnamurthy, Sportz Village Get Kids To Play Summit is a one of its kind confluence of multiple stakeholders who play an important role in getting kids to play.

Sports in India have long been viewed as extracurricular – an activity beyond the classroom, beyond policy, beyond development. Yet, in the vision of a Viksit Bharat, there lies a larger opportunity: to position sports as both a vertical and horizontal force within Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Students across India will design and present creative solutions to overcome barriers in children’s access to play and sports—from lack of space, gender and skill bias to academic pressure and beyond. This competition will amplify the voices of children to address pressing issues related to sports and play.

The survey, conducted by Sportz Village, India’s largest school sports organization, with 1800
parents and children aged between 6 to 14 years, aims to understand the current
landscape of school sports in India.

Studying the impact of a seven-year-long (2017-ongoing) structured sports program by Sportz Village at IIM Bangalore aimed at improving the physical and mental well-being of students.

how parents, schools, and communities can get children to play more.
